Romans 5:8 - While we were still sinners, screw-ups, failures, hypocrites, losers, lost, broken people, Jesus died for us. He didn’t die for us as soon as we stopped going back on our promises to Him. He didn’t die for us when we got our acts together. He died for us while we were absolutely and utterly useless to Him.
So why would He change His character now? When we mess up now, when we go back on our promises to Him, when we sin. Why would He not forgive us, why would He not still die for us?
Who are we to say that God can’t or wouldn’t do that for us?
After all, aren’t we all still sinners? Aren’t we all screw-ups, mess-ups, losers, failures?
And while we were still sinners, Jesus died for us on that beautiful cross. To show His ultimate love for us.
